HACKGATE DAY 183: Lines on the decision of the Murdochs to face a Parliamentary Committee.

They will lie.

They always lie about stuff that might harm them.

What good would it do to put Mandelson or Blair in such a position?

What good would it do to put Bob Diamond and Lloyd Blankfein in such a position?

Direct questioning by a half-baked bunch of idiots who could do with answering some questions themselves will achieve nothing beyond a slight boost to 24/7 News Channel ratings.

What Brooks, Murdoch R, Murdoch J, Andy Coulson, Ian Edmondson, and Les Hinton need to face is a Court of Law before a jury of their peers, having first been arrested, questioned and then charged by a police force devoid of sleazy buggers, and led by Sue Akers.

Said trial would present evidence, and watch as jurors laughed at risible Newscorp defences based on that incredibly conclusive evidence.

The only thing left for them to face after that would be sentencing.

Get real. Murdoch has been grinning his face off since he arrived. His CEO Brooks has worn a quietly smug grin of immunity. His son’s expression suggests he can’t decide whether to look penitent or give everyone the finger. MPs? These people se MPs as sh*t on their hand-made shoes.

These are the bad guys. We didn’t get the last lot of bad guys….the Blairs, Mandelsons, Balls, Jowells, Morgans and Campbells. But believe me: letting this lot off to get even isn’t the way. So we are going to get them. To those determined to defend the indefensible, I offer a simple anagram for you to solve:

I was watching a Bloomberg show hosted by Charles Rose with Alistair Campbell as one of the participants. It was wonderful to see him claim how he had been hacked by his former employer ( not the NOW) and how he felt that there needed to be stricter controls on the media!
Completely sums up the jist of your blog.

In South Africa they had a sort of an amnesty on the criminal acts that had been committed didnt they? So peole could come forward and confess their own part in the crimes without fear that they were going to be punished. Thats what needs to happen in this country. The Bible calls it repentance, and forgiveness. That way, we will be able to see the murderers and human traffickers in their true light, as those who were sucked in to covering for them are shaken apart from the truly wicked devilish fiends. I would not like to see a man who has merely been a moral coward get the same punishment as a man who deliberatly stole children from their family in order to make money by giving them to paedophiles.

If we are better than the Media Committee let try to help them with questions that might assist in getting them to ‘Fokk uff ‘.

Here are a couple:

To RM ‘Given NC’s public statement that you would assist fully with all the investigations will you now give a 100% irrevocable indemnity to everybody who is subject to any confidentiality clauses in contracts with NC or its subsidiaries or associated organisations. This indemnity to be limited to solely on any matter of unlawful activity executed or attempted to be executed by anybody contracted by NC or any of its subsidiaries, if you feel you do not wish to assist please explain briefly why not?’ (goes to guilt)

To RB ‘given you did not know of any unlawful activity by the NOTW and Sun staff under your direct control between 2000-6 will you confirm that, obviously, you had no cause at any time to stop anyone at NOTW/Sun attempting or proposing to either commission unlawful hacking or bribes to the police?'(goes to negligence/incompetence)

To JM ‘will you please explain what you meant when you said that you regret profoundly the out of court settlements based on incomplete information, surely you accept the settlements were just for the harm NOTW unlawfully perpetrated on the victims?'(goes to an attempted cover up)

How appropriate that Rupert should be attending a kangaroo court next Tuesday. He has traveled some distance since his days in Adelaide working on ‘The Advertiser’
Whilst I have followed JW’s account with both interest and support the recent Brown intervention’s and this latest Guardian inspired witch-hunt is not the way forward. I believe the new police investigation should be allowed to complete it’s job unhindered.

I am reminded this morning that there is a GREAT danger in the exposure of the flagrantly and very obviously guilty to a parliamentary committee.
That is that – if the parliamentary committee does its probing job jolly well – the silks of the accused will very swiftly claim that any judicial trial of their clients will be prejudiced. ‘No chance of a fair trial now Guv’ will be their cry!
So its parliamentary committee versus the judiciary.
Can’t have both, Dear.
As the parliamentary committee has bugger all sanctions (not even, these days apparently, a lifetime’s residence at HM’s pleasure in the Tower of London) it would be best left to the judicial process. After all, all the parliamentary committee really wants to do is showboat and brag. The Murdoch arse licking sheep have turned savage and want to be seen to be putting the boot into their long time tormentors. Fair enough. Good luck. And I want to watch it.
BUT just so long as it doesn’t let the Newscorpse bastards off the judicial hook and a VERY long time in jail.
The only thing a parliamentary committee MIGHT be able to do at a constitutional stretch is arrest the Newscorpse US Citizens and detain them for trial. But I bet a squillion quid to a bent ASD they haven’t got the wits or guts,

Well since Brooks gaily told the same committee that they gave bungs to police and they said, ‘Oh, OK then, that’s nice,’ more or less, I doubt they have much to fear.

I expect long, rambling questions bulked out with insults that the MPs think awfully clever and bound to trip the buggers up about all the wrong aspects of the case with a few ‘did you do ….’ questions to which the obvious answer is always going to be ‘no’.

Important things like following up inconsistent answers or challenging answers incompatible with known facts will be entirely missed.

JW,you are right and the Family no longer hold all the cards,after their idiotic initial decision not to bow and scrape at an invitation to attend Mr. Vaz’s(?) committee. The new corporate structure requires the family to become Bahamian citizens and residents, resign all their directorships,enfranchise the Newscorp low voters(this increases their economic interest) and then break up the whole group for cash.Rupe’s grandchildren would then be very rich,albeit that the previous generation might have to avoid visiting major capital cities and being feted by ephemeral politicos. )

Since they may well be under oath they will probably dissemble rather than lie outright. This is one step in the process. Hopefully they will be caught here or in later questioning on trial. The Feds are about get on them in any case. With luck they can be caught on both bribery and obstruction of justice terms. Then Becks can hot foot it to join the othr crims in OZ, Rupe can take refuge in China and James can go to the Big House here or the US. (In the US he might be ‘sent to Africa’, a jail for Ivy League boys where his cellmate looks like Mr. T)

Your right about select committee made up of Mp’s. These people have years of manipulating and distorting facts. If the Murdoch’s and Brooks are prepared to attend they know exactly what they are doing and already have a plan. Much as I dislike involving lawyers in everything, it’s a pity these Mp’s don’t have a couple of QC’s sat behind them with the ability to prompt the line of questioning. I don’t see the Murdoch’s quaking in their shoes facing our mediocre politicians. I predict the questioning will not be robust, these 3 have sh*t on the Met, politician’s and just about anybody who could hold them to account. They are smug and I think sadly, they have every reason to be.
