It is my very happy duty to report to you all that – despite last minute stalling by by the Ruritanian EC Commissioner for Childish Midwinter Solstice Celebrations – Christmas will be happening on time this year. Sten Ritter confirmed that, after a lengthy investigation of all the ins, outs, blacks, whites, Tuesdays and Marble Arches of the situation had been thoroughly investigated, it was an open and shut case. He thus proposed to close the case before any meddlesome journalists started asking any impertinent questions.
But there was immediate controversy after the great-great granddaughter of Jakob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn, one Mitzy Mendelssohn, went on France24 News to declare that no member of her distinguished musical family had ever been “the sort of low-life that typifies journalism today, Mein Gott it should happen to Hitler”.
Denying the British Government’s charge of stalling, Herr Ritter ignored Mad Mitzy and told a globally transmitted news conference starting three hours late how he gave his categorical assurance to all UK Remaindeer that Santa Claus really does exist, and “Adolf the Redfaced Reindeer will once again be delivering toys to all good boys and girls who believe in a federal United States of Europe.”
Westminster MPs in turn denied charges of being divided on the Brexmas issue. “That simply isn’t true,” said leader of the 4-wheel Drive Select Committee Anne Subaru, “We MPs are eighty percent for federal fascism….it is our subjects the people of Britain who are out of step and asleep at the wheel on this one”.

I should like to take this very last-minute chance to wish you all a very Confusing Christmas and a surreal 2019. I do this solely in the knowledge that the both are racing certainties.
A genuinely heartfelt welcome to all those who joined the Sloggers Army in the last year, and unquenchable thanks go to the 30,000 who (to one extent or another) have been popping in here since 2010.
wish you all the best John – you are a good egg

We are actually having a surprisingly brilliant Christmas Day, and my nearly 3 year old Grandson and I are having lots of fun opening up, and trying to get them to work – our new toys.
Well, yes and all the rest, and he said to me. “No more TV.”
“I want to play with you Grandad”…and so we did…and he led me out – and asked me “Grandad – can you fix this.”
I did try my best, but ended up asking his Dad.
Bright Kids in 360 degrees…sold off cheap – cos hardly anyone can get the bloody things to work
Excellent hardware for the price. The software, and instructions, could be somewhat better…but it does work, and even I am surprised at the quality of the definition and sound, and I am usually very critical about that but it is in 360 degrees if not in 3D. I am sure we can do that too. You may not like it – but its just us kids playing with our toys..currently without any smells…though they are working on that too.

One wonders if May sees Britain in the EU as being a good thing when the ponzi scheme goes pop.
Just think of all that debt making it into some EU balance sheet rather than on the BofE balance sheet.
Thank you for another exceptional year blogging.

Happy Christmas John, and thanks again for all your efforts.
If anyone’s short of background noise for today they can do worse than this album:
But be warned, especially if you’re a parent – I listened and read the lyrics to ‘Snowflake’ this morning and almost wept for the first time in thirty-odd years. Almost.

Hi John,
firstly, thank you for another year of “interesting” reading. I seldom put in a comment, as I see most comments have a depth beyond my personal capabilities!
I’m hoping and waiting for the call to demonstrate outside all of our town halls (rather than just London). And none of the 3 main political parties have a hope of seeing my vote in the future, and that includes local elections. I especially want to see the Conservative’s destroyed in all future elections.
Regards,. Malcolm

I have not done any Christmas Cards this year, except one to my sister. Both my wife and I have been rather busy – sorting out other much more important things in Lancashire.
However…
I have no direct local knowledge, but I have friends that have.
I believed the drone story at Gatwick airport – Reported as Is.
The Press, sometimes tell the Truth.
On new information today, it got me thinking.
I initially thought No Way are The Sussex Police that Clever.
However, they have not discredited themselves.
But they have completely discredited the Press..
She said to me, that there is stuff going on, that you do not know about, where I live ( near Gatwick Airport.).
If true, then I think The Sussex Police may have done A Brilliant Job. Almost a Reverse Psyop.
They have completely discredited The Daily Mail. Why did they so intrude, on a completely obviously innocent family?
And I suggest MI5/ MI6, The Mossad and The CIA – Do not Fck with the Sussex Police.
I said you are joking – and she smiled at me.
She always reminds me of my Ex.
The Sussex Police were not amused at the Skripal Bollocks MKII.

Just thinking how grateful we all must be that Chris Grayling is not in charge of Christmas …
May your festive plans for the week surpass all expectations, John. And may the rest of you Sloggers fulfil your dreams to work with the less fortunate and strive unceasingly for World Peace. No, I haven’t been at the decanter (sniffs haughtily and stumbles a tad due to the ship being a bit lively).

Thank you John for making me laugh (again) and for educating and informing me all year. I have decided to stop flirting with the Barmy Army and swear allegiance to the Sloggers Army. I need someone else to roll eyes and shrug shoulders with as we observe the world sinking beneath our feet as things hot up. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, ou vice versa.
