GLOBALISED MEDIA: How simple facts crush their hype every time.

mesnip19916 In the odd media-dictated world we inhabit – one where the counter-intuitive and unnatural interpretation is presented as just a new natural norm – it would be hard to find two countries more likely to influence the near future than America and China. The three examples below demonstrate, I think, just how much of the Establishment’s media coverage about them is worth believing: none.

FACT: Republican nominee for president of the United States Donald Trump continues to surge in the polls against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos States of the Nation project results that were released on Saturday morning. The poll is done online and takes replies from 15,000 people per week. In order to get more accurate results, it also analyses voting patterns under various election scenarios.

Clinton still has a 60 percent chance to win the election by 18 electoral votes, but this figure has been dropping dramatically over the past few weeks: in August, Clinton had a 95 percent chance of winning the election by 108 votes in the Electoral College.

Her College lead has been cut by 90%

FACT: Three of the four media outlets that received and published large numbers of secret NSA documents provided by Edward Snowden — The Guardian, the New York Times, and The Intercept – have called for the U.S. government to allow the NSA whistleblower to return to the U.S. with no charges.

But not the Washington PostIn the face of a growing campaign to secure a pardon for Snowden, timed to this weekend’s release of the Oliver Stone biopic “Snowden,” the Post editorial page today not only argued in opposition to a pardon, but explicitly demanded that Snowden — the paper’s own source — stand trial on espionage charges or, as a “second-best solution,” accept “a measure of criminal responsibility for his excesses and the U.S. government offers a measure of leniency.”

The Washington Post has been captured by the élite

FACT: Risks of a Chinese banking crisis are mounting, according to a warning indicator from the banking industry’s global watchdog, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). Its key gauge of stress in the banking sector is now more than three times above the danger level: China’s credit-to-GDP gap hit 30.1 in the first quarter of 2016,whereas the BIS considers a credit-to-GDP gap of 10 to be a sign of potential danger.

In turn, the IMF estimates that loans worth $1.3 trillion are at risk of default.

The Jim O’Neill/Davros take on China was bullshit

  1. Well, the owners and editors of the Wash Times have been participants at Bilderberger meetings for many years, as has the NYT and other leading rags. The puzzle is why the divergence of opinion now …..

  2. The Grahams, owners of the Washington Post for several generations sold out to the neocon Tech billionaire Jeff Bezos of Amazon a few years ago. It has been transmogrified fron the voice of the liberal establishment to that neocon (fascist) right.

  3. Alexei; Washington Times was a quasi-journalistic arm of the Reunification Church, Rev. Sung Yung Moon’s propaganda outlet. It is like the Washington Post in that regard, just that the Post represents what is good for Jeff Bezo’s propaganda arm and the truth doesn’t get in the way of either one. the WT represents what is good for the Moon family, and that has typically been war. This isn’t to say they don’t break a story now and then.

  4. Two points if I may. As correctly noted above Bezos Blog, formerly known as WAPO is a big Hilary fan and Snowden has dirt on her as yet unpublished. I am surmising this I don’t know for sure, but it explains a lot.
My 2nd point is on China and I know how things work there. $1.3 trillion is loose change in China and if that is what it takes that’s what they’ll do with zero public accountability. Those responsible, and I mean those really responsible not scapegoats, will recieve a fair trial shortly before being shot.

  5. Apparently more than a few here are confused about the two Washington DC papers. The Post was founded in 1877. The Washington Times was founded in 1982 the whack job Reverend Sun Young Moon and his Unification Church. It’s politics are rightest in nature and worn proudly on it’s sleeve and it’s journalism is 5th rate. The Post may have been ‘liberal’ in the 60’s but it became the house organ of all the entrenched elites who have swarmed to DC since Reagan. The perfect expression of neoliberalism. It was sold by the longtime owners corporation which was in the education for profit game and the paper was a tireless champion of of every crackpot education ‘reform’ all of which are designed to suck at the teat of public money available to education. It was sold to the founder of Ebay who is by default a neoliberal but what that has meant for the paper I don’t know. It’s editorial content is about what it has been for years, the aforementioned promotion of entrenched elites in the Beltway.
