REASONS FOR BREXIT Nos 137 & 138: EC to decide TTIP content with no democracy at all, as Erdogan splits the EU right down the middle

THE EU IS A RIVEN NEOLIBERAL BASKET CASE WITH NO MORAL OR LIBERTARIAN COMPASS. HOW HARD CAN THIS BREXIT DECISION BE?

Leaked documents from the ongoing EU-US Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations show that the European Commission will be obliged to consult with US authorities before adopting new legislative proposals in many areas. What’s more, only the unelected EC will have authority to decide in which areas there should be cooperation with the US: EU member states and the European Parliament will be completely cut out of the process.

The documents were obtained by the Independent and Corporate Europe Observatory (CEO) campaign group. They show a complex network of procedures specifically designed to tie up any EU proposals that go against US interests.

Nick Dearden, director of the Global Justice Now campaign group, said: “The leak absolutely confirms our fears about TTIP. It’s all about giving big business more power over a very wide range of laws and regulations. In fact, business lobbies are on record as saying they want to co-write laws with governments – this gets them a step closer. This isn’t an ‘add on’ or a small part of TTIP – it’s absolutely central.”

In short, it’s another giant step closer to the Corporate State…and the world hegemony the US élite seeks…as well as being yet another vindication of what Hungary’s leader Viktor Orban has been warning about for the last five years.

Far from being interested in democratic reform, the EC’s Troika of fixers demonstrates here that it has every intention of snuffing out elected influencers at the earliest opportunity.

It did it in Greece, and the British Left preferred to stare up its cosy bottom. Now we have the most direct threat to European trade union freedoms since the Nazis. One wonders what the pinhead-angel examiners will do this time. What they should do is attend to the wisdom of Kate Hoey, who has all along said, “This is not about simple Brexit….it’s about the People versus the Establishment.”

Hear that sound of gunfire, not quite drowning the noise of the UK Left’s ideologists onanising about “the soul of the Labour Party”.

Meanwhile, David Cameron’s hero Recep Erdogan is preparing for membership of the European Union by ensuring Turkey is every bit as fascist as the EC by the time it gets on board.

“It is not only the person who pulls the trigger, but those who made that possible who should be defined as terrorists, regardless of their title,” he said on Monday, in an attempt to convince parliament to include journalists, politicians, academics, and activists under the country’s anti-extremism laws. In the light of recent bombings in Ankara, Turkey has arrested nearly 50 people with alleged links to the Kurdish People’s PKK, as part of his long-term plans for ethnic cleansing.

However, it seems that Angela Mirakel has been abruptly informed by Paris – backed up by Warsaw, Budapest and other points East – that Turkish accession into the EU ill be effected over their collective cadavers. Accordingly, Brussels-am-Berlin has been rapidly back-pedalling away from assurances made to the Turkish Prime Minister. Further, I understand that a senior EU secret service officer based in Britain has warned some of the more doolally goforits that the prospect of Turkish accession “might be just enough to tip the scales in favour of Brexit”.

Look folks, please can enough of you wake up before June 23rd? You can walk willingly onto the scaffold if you like, but what about your kids?

  1. The European Union was established in the 1950s (under a different name) with one intent in mind: a treaty of the form that TTIP has taken.

In the US, just as in the UK, the corporations and big business now rule the roost. There is little need for TTIP in these countries because it’s already effective.

In Europe – and especially countries like Germany, where corporations have to pay taxes (which, in the twisted world of a corporation is an obscenity: their money is their money to do with a they please.). TTIP will ensure that a fair government will be established in the place of those detestable democracies. These new forms of government will be responsive, like the US government and will be established for the good of all those who count.

  2. I was Skyping a good friend living on one of the Greek Islands yesterday…They are (quite rightly) absolutely furious that the Sprouts are trying to bribe Turkey with huge sums of money, while Greece, that is bearing the real brunt of all this mess, gets absolutely nothing from Brussels at all……

So on their islands, they have decided that they will, (out of common humanity), offer what food, water and shelter they can to the migrants….and offset the costs by not paying taxes to the Government wherever possible . Apparently this is now happening in many other parts of Greece too…Not paying taxes has always been a very effective form of protest in Greece… and they are really expert at The Black Market !

Last year for the average Greeks… it was “Revenge for the financial humiliation by Germany” to wave a million migrants northwards to totally screw up Germany…..all with little or no paperwork or ID papers written in perfect “All Greek. to Me !” . This year …if the Sprouts will not pay basic migrant costs to the Greeks ‘living on the ground’ from EU raised taxes…the Greeks will help the migrants in their area if they can….. but will not pay taxes too…..and the Troika is about to be left with a really horrendous black hole in Greek Finances by mid-summer….I am sure JW will be aware of this from his Greek chums too !

The other word out on the block seems to be that some of the “not quite whiter than white” Albanian underworld residents of Athens are already arranging a new people trafficking route through to Western Greece, then to their mates in Albania and across the Adriatic by ships and boats to Italy ….the EU does not seem to be keeping up with any of this and are, a once again, a number of months behind the people traffickers. The effect on the economy of Italy could be very messy fairly quickly, if this happens.

All this is building up nicely to become a total EU balls up and massive humanitarian disaster by the time we are voting for Brexit on 23rd June ! If Turkey gets any serious “bribery promises” about joining the EU, then that is a stunningly good reason for the UK to be leaving it. They are welcome to each other.

  5. “It is not only the person who pulls the trigger, but those who made that possible who should be defined as terrorists, regardless of their title,”

I find it difficult to believe that Erdogan’s audience were able to contain their laughter when they heard this from one of the principal funders, suppliers and supporters of ISIS.

Statements from the West’s politicians and spokespeople are becoming more and more risible to those of us with a memory longer than a couple of nanoseconds.

The corporations that have become virtually indistinguishable from the Deep State that serves them in the UK and US. They seek to capture, via the TPP and TTIP, the last remaining vestiges of democratic autonomy in Europe. Having watched Canada succumb to their destructive embrace, (even after the patent destruction wrought by NAFTA), I fear that in or out, the psychopathic corporate and financial gluttons that currently dictate policy in the U.S. and U.K. will succeed in their goal. It may, however be marginally more difficult for them if the U.K. is not on the inside acting as a trojan horse for Wall St./City/corporate interests. This might explain the U.S. instruction to its poodle to stay in.

The only hope for ordinary Europeans is a pushback by the marginally more awake French and German populations.

  6. I think one of the many things insular Brits don’t “get” is just how much more suspicious of the Corporatocracy Germans and the French are. But even these two bring baggage:
    1. They designed the entire thing for their own selfish benefit
    2. They’ve fallen out bigtime on a number of dimensions.
But the Franco-German split is one of many: West v East/South East, and German Bundesbank v ECB being the most important.
The whole construct is an anarchy of jostling, bullying, illegality and division that makes Islam look solid and undivided by comparison.

  7. One of the ‘opportunities’ provided for by the TTIP is for a corporation to sue a foreign government for anticipated loss of profit due to its domestic legislation, i.e., if the UK decided to ban GMOs, certain imported Monsanto products would be disallowed, impacting their potential profits. Since some US companies are richer than many small nations, it’s not hard to guess which would crumble first – setting an early deterrent for the rest and a further corporate takeover of governments.

Hillary was initially in favour of TTIP but having become aware of many of her own supporters’ opposition, has modified her own position to waffling a concern about the finer points, such as retraining of ‘displaced workers’. It appears that both Clintons are experts at doublespeak. As with all electors, on voting day Democrats will probably disregard the warning signs threatening their best interests and ‘hope for the best’.

  8. TTIP is the big coup of all democratic governments that sign. they sign away their democratic rights for gangsters to take over. i gather it states that the EU parliament will have no power to argue anything to do with it. Decisions all have to be made by the unelected council with no reference to parliament. If do not want democracy then now is our chance. Just vote to stay in the EU.

The back bench Labour MP, from Kirkcaldy, who could not be bothered to attend the House on Budget day, has announced his dramatic, Scotland Independent style, speech at some future date, telling us all to Remain. I understand that he will be meeting Barack Obama at a petrol station near Slough to firm up US support for his appointment to a highly paid post in the UN. Furthermore, it is reliably rumoured that this great statesman has been offered , by the EU Commission, the new post of ‘European World Economic Ambassador’. He was turned down by the Diana land mines charity, last year, because they would not bung him ‘TB’s rates’, which is the new benchmark for Kleptocracy, in the post Soviet, Clinton, Blair world.

    1. “The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism — ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power

    2. Sartre said “Fascism is not defined by the number of its victims, but by the way it kills them.” that seems apt when discussing David Cameron’s Conservative government.

  23. But why would I choose the EU when that then prevents me choosing something else? Bloody EUnuchers …

I have the world to choose from and a communication rate now that makes this all possible. Spoke to someone in China this week and friend is back next week so why the EU, too small, too petty. The EU is too trivial now because human awareness and communication expanded way past that boundary. The Brexit is not just a vote to leave a corrupt institution that would allow the total EU population and its children to be farmed as cattle. The Brexit is to join something bigger, China and / or Russia or the rest of the world. To choose solely the EU is isolation like the little Englander in global terms, “you little EUnucher you” (word I made, up actually seems appropriate cutting ones nuts off for the future).

Everyone shouts democracy, this shining example of a polished turd suggests otherwise…

If you lobby and influence politicians in other democratic nations you SUBVERT THE WHOLE CONCEPT OF DEMOCRACY the whole concept of populations choosing is rendered meaningless and why I no longer follow that belief and now being played out for all to see.

If to have the in or out vote was ever considered a uniting factor, it failed miserably when those for staying in seek to subject those who want out to a way of life of being farmed that they do not wish or believe will ever work for them. That lack of consideration of the welfare of one of your own in this process rebounds with consequences with the same denial of rights applied to those demanding it.

Even now Cameron refusing half of the debate on this is to deny all those who want out because of what the EU represents and as he found will never change. THAT LAST POINT IS CRUCIAL, wtf we going to do when we end up being intergalatic and the EU a little poxed dot in the universe. Even the US, the same as the EU is in exactly the same position where the boundaries being reached by people are greater than confines of national boundaries.

One of his planes overflew the USS Donald Cook in the Black Sea 12 times, & simply switched it off, all radar & weapons systems. 27 US crew resigned in disgust at being completely defenseless, as soon as they scuttled back to a Romanian port. Putin has completely outfoxed & outclassed the raving psychos running (ruining) the land of the fat, as JW points out.

China has been modernising & expanding their forces.

Both have woken to the fact that the US is set on global corporate hegemony, & the eventual destruction of ALL countries, the imposition of a Totalitarian World Govt. Putin has shown commendable good sense destroying US proxy jihadi armies ISIS/Nusra etc because they were destined for the Islamic Republics bordering Russia, as they were transported to Syria from Libya.

War may well be coming, and if the ‘sheeple’ as you put it cheer Putin, it is possibly because they are becoming aware of the true nature of the psychopaths running the ‘West’.

The Neocons who infest the State Department are bent on the destruction of a sovereign Russia, just as they seek the subjugation of Syria, Iran, and eventually China. Any nation in fact, that tries to assert any independence from the hegemonic designs of the psychopaths in the State Department. Are you aware of the Wolfowitz doctrine?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfowitz_Doctrine

It is clear to anyone who is not immersed in the lies propagated by the BBC, Guardian and indeed all mainstream media in the Anglosphere, that the real threat to world peace lies in the actions and statements of the representatives of the ‘Exceptional’ nation who dictate foreign policy to their suborned puppets in the Anglosphere, Western Europe and the G.C.C. Anyone who objectively views the geopolitical manoeuvring over the last few years is bound to conclude that Putin has done everything he could to compromise and to defuse a very dangerous situation on the world stage caused by deranged figures at the heart of the U.S. establishment. Was it Putin who launched aggressive and illegal wars against South Ossetia, the Dombass, Afghanistan Iraq, Libya, Syria and Yemen in the last few years? Is it Putin that talks of assassinating other world leaders, or launching a nuclear attack on Iran?

By all means write me off as a ‘Putin-bot’, ‘Putinista’, ‘Putin fanboi’ or whatever other ad hominems the apologists for the criminals in the State Department have come up with, but an objective assessment of the facts would show the above to be much more plausible than the ‘Putin as the new Hitler’ meme being pushed in our media. I have no doubt that he is ruthless – no one could have reached his position without being so – but I do believe that he has three traits sadly lacking in our own politicians and statesmen; he is rational, intelligent and has respect for, (or at the very least pays lip-service to), International Law.

I am confused by your link. I will guess that your intention was to imply something along the lines of “Any political assassination in Russia is down to the evil Putin”. Interesting logic. Let us set aside the fact that at least one of the 31 political assassinations you refer to occurred in 1893, but if a country’s leader is responsible for all the political assassinations that occur during their tenure, it also suggests that JFK committed suicide. I have to say that this latter idea is one I have not encountered before. There was me thinking the Warren Commission Report was outlandish fiction. I don’t think even that tissue of lies postulated a suicide explanation for the events in Dealey Plaza. :-)

On further reflection, I now see that you might have been suggesting that Putin is limiting his actions to ‘posturing’ for fear of assassination. This has considerably more merit and I apologise if that was your point. I would argue however, that Putin’s decisive actions in Crimea and Syria are far more than ‘posturing’.

I am sure the US and it’s death squads have already attempted such a solution, but have run into the professional and effective Russian secret services.

I will acknowlege that fear of assassination could explain Putin’s reluctance to go after the remaining oligarchs and his own central bankers however.
