BREXIT: TO WIN THE 2016 REFERENDUM IS GOING TO REQUIRE ALL-OUT WAR, NOT CIVIL WAR

Whether your main interest is equality, liberty, democracy, economic survival, sovereignty, debt reduction, increased export potential, encouraging entrepreneurs, fiscal independence, social fairness, overpopulation, community mutualism or calling leaders to account, it has become abundantly clear since 2008 that you will have to forfeit every one of these aspirations if your preference is to stay within the European Union.

The EU is run by an unelected élite which largely ignores the individual, ignores election results, ignores State sovereignty, ignores debt mountains, ignores currency realities, ignores poverty, ignores its responsibilities and above all, ignores every legal and constitutional obstacle in its way.

It is dominated by a Germany sailing the Eutanic at Full Ahead Both towards a confrontation with the iceberg  formerly known as France. It puts the banking system before citizens. It puts corporate shareholder needs before workers’ rights. And it puts The Great Federal Project before any considerations of cost, practicality, Member State rights, social anthropology and freedoms of speech.

In order to achieve ‘escape velocity’ however, the UK’s Brexit campaign needs to be cohesive, on the front foot, and persuading all the perfectly decent people out there who are confused, and thus undecided, about the pros and cons.

This is not going to happen if those who want out give all the limelight to UKip’s Nigel Farage, and disappear up their own parochial leadership contest. The one cast-iron certainty in all this is that those twin outcomes will hand an easy victory to the Stay In movement – a campaign to retain élite privileges at all costs: and there are no prizes for guessing who will bear the cost.

There is a new dedicated page at The Slog that will act as an information centre and call to action right up until referendum day….currently pencilled in for June 2016 – if the EU lasts that long. It also provides a history of EU/ECB/EC/eurogroupe lawlessness going back to May 2011.

We aren’t going to persuade any neutrals with bombast about migrants. And we’re going to look amateur if the Labour Party simply dithers while Hairgel Mirage taints the whole campaign with pub bore bollocks.

By all means let Mr Farrago work hard to retain the loyalty of his followers. But there are many fine people and true in the Labour movement who suspect the neoliberal anti-democratic instincts of the unelectable gargoyles in Brussels.

It is going to take an all OUT effort to check OUT of the European Union. We must do more than simply act OUT a drama for appearances’ sake. Rather, only a flat OUT effort will stop the British Establishment from chickening OUT of this, the most OUT of order attempt to create a corporacratic superstate in modern history.

And although that paragraph wins the 2015 Award for multiply naff uses of OUT, that doesn’t make it wrong. The Stay In tendency has a clear lead: to wipe out that lead, only an all-out effort of persuasion will do.

  1. John, you have repeatedly stated your dislike for Farage. But who do we rally behind if not Farage?
Labour are too busy squabbling over who will be their new leader.
    LibDems, who?
There is no other political voice openly campaigning for Brexit.

  2. Your headline states that the No campaign will fail if the various strands of opinion within it squabble among themselves. You are correct.
You follow this up with yet another column consisting almost entirely of crude personal attacks on one of the leaders of the No campaign. What is it you don’t get?

It’ll be here long after us, perhaps not in the current format but, the dog has the rabbit between its teeth, it ain’t about to let go in a hurry.

  4. Agree. But
“ignores debt mountains” . It does the the opposite. Its well aware of debt and will use debt to take over countries by economic rather than military means. The EU leaders are smart and the people stupid. But Greece started to wake people up thank goodness. But the UK is not in the Euro and so its OK for us of course. Even with a resounding Yes vote we would still not join. Or at least that’s what pro EU supporters believe. I think this a base that we can build upon. To knock down that Yes does not mean joining the Euro. It will make it almost certain.

  5. Before the general election I might have agreed with you. But the election showed why an Out campaign is doomed to failure whoever leads it. The establishment, the establishment stooge Cameron and the establishment-run media will not let it happen. The whole referendum is a sham, playing on people’s naive assumption that our democracy is functioning, when it’s not. Most of the charges you level against the EU could equally be levelled at the British government. Until we find a way to vote out our own establishment-fixed parties, there will be no Out vote and nor, in fact, will make any difference whether we are in the EU or not.
Anyone who wants out of the EU is probably better off not voting in the referendum at all – and let the establishment get a North Korean-style that the world can laugh at.

  6. Your tiresome obsession with Nigel Farage is very boring not to say unfair . Without him and UKIP this referendum would not be happening . Steel yourself and say thanks for that . Of course Farage and UKIP should be only one part of any coalition formed to achieve a NO to EU vote . The trouble is the outers all seem to hate each other and will have difficulty finding common ground let alone the funding . Your divisive attitude is just what the outers are suffering from and will lead to failure .

  8. I like Farage, I like UKIP but I agree with JW that Farage is NOT the man to head the out campaign, it would be far too easy to use the smear tactics seen in the election campaign to derail the efforts.

I was going to say – if not Farage then who? My conclusion is that it must be a prominent Tory, why? Because then how will Brave Dave counter the argument? One of them must have enough spine to stand up for what is right surely?

Maybe JW needs to challenge leading well known Tory eurosceptics to do what is right for their country and not follow the hollow and morally bankrupt party line as cranked out by the superficial tool of the elite – Cameron.

I think the problem is, they only stand up for what is right for them.
One of the issues perhaps is, that Parliament used to consist of more elderly members so, they could if necessary resign on principle and not have to worry about sinecures to see them through to old age, now, the members are much younger and have to consider their futures, much easier to manipulate. I’m sure they are constantly reminded that they hold their own futures in their hands. It’s ‘do as your are told or, be cast out’.

  11. The EU is now obviously, mainly a Political construct. Economics is only secondary to their plans for totalitarian control.
They will use debt to subjugate each country to their will, even to destruction as in Greece. This is only one of the tools in their armoury. Not to forget the control of the MSM, GHCQ and the security services. They have all the tools of power in their claws and will not shirk to use them.
Fear ,Doubt,Uncertainty, (FUD) will be disseminated by the presstitutes of the MSM and used to cow the populations into subservience. We have seen this in action during the Scots Independence referendum and currently in full flow against Labour Leader contender Jeremy Corbyn.
Anyone who dares to stray off the reservation and challenge their control is demonised and subject to both shotgun barrels of lies and propaganda from the compromised MSM and their cohorts.
We have serious flaws in our voting system, because of postal voting. Postal votes can be intercepted and forged to swing a result in marginal areas.
The Scottish referendum did not have exit polls, and postal votes swung some key marginals. Those areas had voter participation of 94%, A near impossible figure in modern times.
To abstain from physically voting in an election is a dereliction of duty as a citizen and of itself is a corruption of the result. Not physically voting, lends itself to the malign forces who would wish to steal an election. We would be very naive to think that this cannot happen in our Sceptred Isle.
Exit polls must be insisted upon in every election and other protection to prevent corruption of the vote.
As Uncle Joe Stalin was wont to say, ‘I care not how they vote, we do the counting.’

Nigel’s followers may be getting a little tired of the mouth that roars, It i simply not the style that an Englishman expects of his leaders Camoron proves the way to lead is to spout bollocks as simple platitudes and do it with equanimity. Myself I would like to see Daniel Hannan take over the Tories but since hes never been a member of the right club, ( or the Bullington Boys club) and doesn’t spout Bollocks that will never happen. Here is the problem in blighty as I see it. The liberal labor luvies bless their unwashed uncouthness will never give up their dream, nor will the liberal Tories give up the idea of cheap labor and houses in Spain. They think as long as the pound is separate form the Euro they can glide above the mess and let Germany worry about getting loan repayments from club med. Got to Luv the Tories, just move a little further from the Mob and dither in the garden. ( perhaps put up a bit of a moat? 8>)
