At the End of the Day

The UK Chancellor of the Exchequer appears to have said that it is “not my job” to crack down on tax evasion.

Some of you may be left wondering whose job it might be, but during a terse conversation with Number 11 this evening, The Slog has been able to establish that – as Minister for Offshore Tax fiddles – Lord Green’s pet crocodile Smiley has the full support of the Prime Minister.

Smiley joins a long list of people enjoying the full support of David Cameron. These venerable dignitaries include the late Lord Brittophile of Missing Files, Andy Coulson, Rebekah Brooks, Lord Brittophile’s replacement Lord Green, Jeremy Hunt, JHJ Lewis of Groucho, James Murdoch, Timothy Yeo, and Lord Wonga.

Anyway, in recognition of this new-found confidence in everybody, I should like to add my own patriotic list of those Ministers of the Crown in whom I have confidence:

No, sorry.
