Morgan….soon to be The Outsider?
Executives at CNN have put plans for Piers Morgan’s next news-based programme on hold as the hacking accusations hang around the 46-year-old former newspaper editor’s neck.
Stateside sources claimed the programme would have run in tandem with his nightly CNN chat show. But with Heather Mills and now her former husband Paul McCartney deepening the former Daily Mirror editor’s poo-depth in the phone hacking scandal, top CNN suits felt it was not the right time to go ahead with the project.
An insider said: “It is felt best to put the new show on hold at least until things settle down.” And other US sources claim the programme’s cancellation – which would have run in tandem with his nightly CNN chat show – is “the beginning of the end” for Morgan. CNN bosses said they were ‘only shelving’ the show…..despite giving him their full support.
I’d hate to see their idea of lukewarm support.
As I posted earlier, stand by for more hair-splitting as Morgan is elbowed out. Cheer up Piers, you can always write another book about it.
