To put that another way, and just so others can see the enormity of your “tarred with the same brush” stupidity, what you are doing is the equivalent of blaming the Holocaust on Lutheran-ism on the basis that a a lot of Germans are Lutherans, and Germans committed the holocaust, therefore Lutheran-ism is a doctrine of hate.

Of course there are fanatic islamist sects. But to tar all with the same brush is not only wrong but a dangerous idea to base any policy on.

As others have noted, the knifeman walking around talking to bystanders and it seems odd that no one either intervened or seemed to feel threatened by the pair walking around with knives. I wonder what was going on there.

On the points made about Islamic extremism and teachings etc I note the attackers looked more of African appearance not Arab or Middle Eastern although conceivably might be Somali or Sudanese. I was reading an article about why some non muslim young black people turn to Islamic extremism. Jermaine Lindsay involved in 7/7 London bombings was Jamaican and a convert. Apparently the majority of young black people who convert to islam have previous strong links to Christianity either themselves or through family members. I am not making a point but it is an interesting starting point to understanding some of this. Article link:

On a far lighter note I picked up on the story above of the devout muslim shopkeeper who stopped serving customers to pray. To illustrate the influence and far reach Islam has, I recall visiting what was officially non religious (but now Orthodox Christian) Serbia in the early 1990′s where sales or railway ticket staff would religiously follow their own tradition to break off from serving customers. Just when you get to front of the long queue and standing at the window, the clerk, without any announcement would simply pull down the shutter and go off for 15 minutes to make some Turkish coffee.

I hate to transgress the etiquette rules of the site, but many think it was Vladimir Ilyich Lenin that coined the term applicable to folks such as your good self: “Useful Idiots”.
