EXCLUSIVE:Fairbank paedophile investigation – “arrest imminent”

But suspicions remain about police NAYPIC raid

Two unrelated but well-informed sources have suggested to The Slog in the last eighteen hours that at least one arrest is about to take place in connection with Operation Fairbank – evidence in relation to which was seized yesterday in a dawn raid by Metropolitan Police officers. Thus far there is an MSM news blackout on the incident.

Many Sloggers will know by now that, via the investigative site Exaro, detectives investigating paedophile activities at the Elms guest-house in Barnes many years ago raided the premises of those supporting care home victims via the National Association for Young People in Care (NAYPIC).

Armed detectives raided the premises and seized files identifying ‘dozens’ of political and other celebrity paedophiles. Former NAYPIC employee Mary Moss told Exaro, “They went through everything. By the end of it, I felt like one of the victims”.

It does seem odd that a uniquely secret police unit like Fairbank should raid whistleblowers rather than perpetrators, although it could well be that the police were in search of additional evidence before making an arrest within the next few days. (If they don’t, then yet more conspiracy theories will kick into action).

However, that such arrest(s) are imminent does seem to be fairly clear.

“I don’t know who or why, but I know fairly certainly that a Barnes [guest house] arrest will be made very shortly, perhaps even in the next day or so,” a senior media contact told me late yesterday afternoon. And during the evening, a separate investigative source similarly opined that “a very high-profile arrest may now be only hours away. Much progress has been made, and one or two members on Fairbank are very confident”.

Fairbank leaders have gone to great lengths to maintain total security, including measures to avoid even using computers at times for evidential storage, and setting up dedicated secure airborne communications that are rigorously checked for interception attempts several times a day.

Further news is anticipated. If you have anything substantive to add – with back-up data – then please contact me at the usual address:  jawslog@gmail.com.

An important ASB (All Sloggers Bulletin): Last November I ran a story based on inside information from employees and users about private employment agencies fiddling the DWP in relation to job-finder outcomes. At the moment I can’t locate the email I received from the user end. Could you please resend and get in contact asap please as a major news organisation is interested in the story. Thanks.

  1. As it would seem that the Eurosceptics are gaining ground and driving events in ways that is giving cause for concern in others, I would also say that they are in need of some serious distraction, this might be the very thing.
As an aside, anybody know how the Bercow/Lord A is coming along, how many Twitter users have shelled out? Or is it being quietly swept under the carpet?

  2. I would imagine the matter is being quietly dropped, now that the point has been made. I would, however, hope that Ms Bercow’s solicitors have made use of the Arkell vs Pressdram “defence” in their final reply letter.

  4. Aghast but unsurprised. I lived in Barnes from 1980 to 1990 and have known it well since my early childhood as my grandparents also lived there from the mid 50’s to early 60’s. It has always been a somewhat schizophrenic and yet insular community – the word ghetto would in some ways not be amiss. Leafy and charming but with a seamy side, it is geographically an island – bordered on three sides by the river, and on the fourth by the common – and yet very close to central London. It has had a fascinating mix of celebrities, the ‘great and good’ plus the old indigenous population which was augmented by refugees from the east end, due to Mr Goering’s activities, and for whom social housing was provided; some ‘right characters’ from all walks of life. Long favoured by BBC types for its proximity to Wood Lane, and also by thesps and the judiciary, past residents include Dr John Dee, ‘queen’s conjuror’ to Elizabeth1 who had one of the greatest libraries in Europe, Gustav Holst, Julian Bream, Honor Blackman and a host of writers, poets, musicians and entertainment personalities, several of whom I have worked for over the years, and some I still do. Until a few years ago it was also home to the famous Olympic Studios, closed when EMI threw in the towel, which was the venue of choice for, and gave rise to seminal recordings from, many great bands from the Stones to the RPO and beyond. It was a truly colourful place, inhabited by some truly colourful people; I say was, because those times are gone and the only people who can possibly afford to buy in now tend to be either lawyers/upper end professionals or financial criminals. I can’t say that I was aware of these activities during the 80’s, and I worked in one or two properties in Rocks Lane, but it does not surprise me either; I will certainly attempt some discreet enquiries but wouldn’t necessarily expect to hear much.

It seems to me that these matters present us with a dilemma: whilst there can be no excuse for predatory behaviour of any sort, it is pointless to ignore the fact that it has always existed – although there is now, thankfully, much greater awareness of it due to new information technology and the relaxation of conventional taboos. The behaviour is, for some at least, part of the human condition and we are now seeing it rampage, seemingly unchecked, through many areas of our lives; the emancipation gained from this greater awareness has clearly not changed that and it is perhaps unrealistic to expect that it would. Both victims and perpetrators, where possible, deserve justice, of course. And yet it is hard to escape the impression that many seem to be forever looking backwards in an attempt to right wrongs which, essentially, can never be righted. Some think that there is an element of conspiracy to distract, through news manipulation, in order to draw attention away from current political/social/economic issues; there may well be an element of truth in that, but I wonder if the bigger picture might not be that the future presently looks so bleak, the problems so pressing and intractable, that looking backwards is simply easier – looking forwards just seems to produce an impenetrable bank of fog.
