BREAKING….Slog subjected to ‘malicious attack’ after purchase of new computer

Forced to acquire higher level anti-invasion software and sign up for 3-year personal top level HP voice assistance

I was unable to blog from this pc from roughly 5 am today (Saturday) until 12.45 pm, following a virus invasion that reduced all The Slog’s manipulation pages to near microscopic levels.

The wordpress site was the only part of the computer affected. After spending two hours establishing that the cursor/magnification tools were all switched off and the other screen settings at normal default, I was obliged to bring in HP’s remote page-control centre to fix the problem. The virus was identified by HP as:

1. State of the art, highly malicious, and targeted.

2. Ingenious enough to fool both Windows 7 and HP’s own warning systems, which remained silent during the attack.

3. Necessitating a change in IP address.

I have now purchased a 3-year package capable of permanently monitoring unknown new viruses, and acting against them before any systemic spread occurs.

I will be blogging in the next few days in relation to ways I might need help in recovering from the readership some of the cost of this new overhead I need to bear. It will initially be short term and voluntary, until such time as I can figure out a proper monetisation model.

Needless to say, no Spanish or Greek sloggers will be asked to donate…unless they admit to being filthy rich, and/or having $700m in an HSBC Zurich account.

And now, back to The Slog not being the news….
